RAIL-SERVED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT…

Representatives of the BNSF Railway and Northern Lines Railway were on hand to present their perspectives on the potential for new rail-served business development in the Greater St. Cloud Area of Central Minnesota at the Partnership’s board and marketing committee meetings in September 2007.

Dan Rickel, president of Northern Lines Railway, provided an overview of how his company serves local businesses in St. Cloud, Waite Park, St. Joseph, and out to Rockville and Cold Spring.  Rickel talked about the exciting potential for new transload facilities and rail-served business parks in the region.  To view his presentation, CLICK HERE.

Eric Pitcher, regional manager of economic development for BNSF Railway, showcased his company’s rail development perspective and described requirements necessary for working with BNSF on new rail-served economic development projects.  Pitcher told Partnership members that it may cost upward of $1 million to install a switch, signaling and a spur connecting with BNSF’s mainline that extends through Becker, St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, Sartell and Rice and it may take upwards of two years to go through the process.  To view his presentation, CLICK HERE.
