Greater St. Cloud Area of Central Minnesota

The Greater St. Cloud Area of Central Minnesota has a rich history dating back to the mid-1880's when settlers came to seek a new life in fur trading, lumbering and farming.  With the Mississippi River lowing through the area, the land along the river was the first to populate.  Over time, the area has grown from a largely agricultural focus to a regional hub, drawing a diverse mix of manufacturing, health care and retail businesses.

View a Power Point about the area!

Driven by a pro-business environment, area companies enjoy support in the form of a diverse and growing infrastructure that includes:

  • a vibrant, historical granite industry Midwest Stone Fabricators Association

  • several public utility options--companies or cooperatives that include special programs and economic development incentives, which offer competitive electricity and utility costs for commercial customers:  Stearns Electric and  Xcel Energy

  • ample telecommunications and high-speed Internet services:  Qwest Home Page;

  • low taxes and tax incentives for new or expanding businesses;

  • attractive rates for buying or leasing commercial and industrial property or buildings;

  • a growing transportation nexus that includes easy access to   I-94 and an expanding regional airport; and an array of education and training options, from public and private colleges and universities to technical schools and customized workforce training programs.

Beyond strictly business-related amenities, the St. Cloud region offers an appealing place to live: safe and scenic neighborhoods; friendly residents; a below-average cost of living; affordable housing for your employees and yourself; diverse parks, lakes, and rivers for outdoor enthusiasts; and the nearby culture and urban offerings of the Twin Cities.
